The LRC- CAS Library is a learning resource center that supports the educational programs of the CAS department. It offers extended service which include the housing, circulation and effective utilization of library resources. It underwent renovation in 2018 to be at par with the newly constructed libraries. Like the other libraries it has vibrant and modern atmosphere.  One of the interesting features is the Benedictine Spirituality Center and the FVR Research Center.

CAS Library is located on the ground floor of St. Bede Hall at Room 81B.

Library Services

Online Reference Service

Helping users find their specific needs of library resources using online databases, fb pages, emails, Learning Management System and SBCA Portal.  

Borrowing & Returning of Books

Administrators, faculty members, students and support staff may borrow and return library materials through pick up and delivery arrangement.  

Online Library User Education

This includes library orientation , online database tutorials and specialized instruction by the start of the academic year to acquiant the students and faculty members with the new normal library services. 

 

ASK BOM (Bedan Online Message)

A service that enables students, faculty and staff to send questions and receive answers from the library through Facebook messenger. 

Current Awareness

The most recently acquired library materials are disseminated through electronic mail/social media. 

 

Electronic Databases

 The library provides access to e-journals and eBooks collection and this is accessible anytime, anywhere.  

Document Delivery/Literature Search

Faculty members and students may request full-text electronic journal articles and book chapter from various subscribed databases and open and free access resources.

Library Guidelines

CAS students can borrow a maximum of five (5) books at a time for a period of five days, excluding non-school days and holidays.

Library materials may be renewed twice personally or by phone on or before the due date.

Faculty members can borrow a maximum of seven (7) books at a time for a period of one (1) month.
As with most libraries, fines are charged for books that are returned late.

  • Overdue books in the CAS are charged P2.00 per book, exclusive of weekends and holidays.

  • Reserved books and materials loaned to users for reproduction purposes that are not returned at the specified time will be charged a fine of P1.00 per library hour.

  • Fines should not exceed the original price of the overdue book.

  • All payments for overdue books should be made in person at the circulation counter.

Borrowing  

  • The borrower consults the Library’s Online –Public Access Catalog to find out if a book is in the library or what title/s the library has about a subject.  To access click : https://opac.sanbeda-alabang.edu.ph/ 

  • Create an account in the OPAC and place a hold on materials to be borrowed. 

  • Wait for the materials to be ready for pick- up at least two working days from the date of request. The borrower will be notified thru text message or email.  

  • All requested materials will be safely packed and ready for pick up at the Main Gate of the School or thru delivery but the cost and the necessary arrangement will be shouldered by the borrower.  

  • The time schedule for pick up will be from Monday to Friday from 9:30 am until 11:30 am and 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm.  A library staff will be assigned to bring the book/s at the main gate. 

  • The borrower should present his/her valid ID or registration form upon pick up. In case the borrower cannot personally pick up the book/s, a representative may get the materials on behalf of the borrower provided that an authorization letter and a photocopy of borrower’s ID will be presented.  

  • Failure to pick up the materials within two working days from the day of notification will mean forfeiture of the request. New List Item

Returning

There are two ways on how to return the books.

  • Through a courier, which we highly recommend. The cost and the necessary arrangement will be shouldered by the borrower. 

  • Personally, return the book(s).  

  • In whatever mode you choose, all books will be received at the Main Gate. A book drop box is available. 

  • Upon return fill-out the form. 

  • Detach the first copy and insert the filled- up form in the book. 

  • Deposit the book/s gently one by one in the box. 

  • Keep the second copy of the form for your file and wait for the librarian’s email confirmation. 

Access to Electronic Databases 

You may get the username and password to your respective departments’ librarian or staff for the specific database that you want to access remotely.
