Part 2: Establishing Monastic Communities 
Benedict’s growing reputation for wisdom and piety attracted followers, leading him to establish several monastic communities. The most famous of these was Monte Cassino, founded around 529 AD. There, Benedict wrote his “Rule of St. Benedict,” a guide for monastic life that emphasized balance, order, and community. The Rule focused on the principles of “ora et labora” (prayer and work), ensuring that the monks led disciplined yet spiritually fulfilling lives.
