In a historic and heartwarming event that resonated across the world, San Beda College Alabang proudly participated in a global prayer initiative centered on the core values of the Benedictine principle of education – PRAYER and PEACE. On October 18, 2023, for the first time since the inception of the initiative in Caracas in 2005, the milestone of one million children praying for peace and unity was surpassed. Last year, 871,523 children registered for the “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” campaign on the ACN website. This year, the number swelled to an astonishing 1,037,390, and it’s believed to be even higher, as many children participated without formal registration. Among the countries that demonstrated unwavering support for this movement, Poland led the way with 275,000 children participating, where communal rosary prayers took place at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Zakopane, followed by Slovakia (over 156,000), the Philippines (over 136,000), the United Kingdom (over 77,000), and Brazil (just under 47,000) rounding out the top five. What made this event even more remarkable was the widespread participation from places facing severe challenges, including Nigeria, Nicaragua, Ukraine, Israel, and the Palestinian territories, where violence and conflicts have plagued the regions. Children from these crisis areas joined hands with their peers globally in the shared hope for peace.
