The De La Salle University, through the JPIA, held the first ever Luzon-wide Business Case Competition (BCC) with the theme “Exceed Accounting Beyond Borders”, among students of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. The competition was designed to bring together the graduating BSA students from the various colleges and universities all over Luzon, to provide them an opportunity to show their analytical skills in business case. The participating schools were Bataan Peninsula State University, Far Eastern University Manila, La Salle College Antipolo, Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig, Philippine School of Business Administration Quezon City, San Beda College Alabang, San Beda College Manila, St. Louis University Baguio City, Technological Institute of the Philippines Manila, University of the East Manila, and Urdaneta City University.

At stake in the competition were:

  • 1st place – Full scholarship from review centers (2 from RESA, 2 from CPAR),
    plus P10,000
  • 2nd place – Full scholarship from review centers (2 from RESA, 2 from CPAR),
    plus P5,000
  • 3rd place – 50% scholarship from review centers (2 from RESA, 2 from CPAR)
  • 4th place – Books from Conanan Bookstore

The two-day competition kicked off in November 23, 2012 at the DLSU Manila.  The participants then proceeded to SGV in Makati for an immersion in the company case “Uniqlo”. The whole day was given for the team’s preparations for the next day’s presentations.

On the second day, the teams underwent two levels of competition. In the first level, the teams were given time for presentation, and separate time for question and answer with a set of three judges. Only those who won in the first level were allowed to proceed to the next level. These were St. Louis University, San Beda College Alabang, San Beda College Manila, and Technological Institute of the Philippines Manila.

The four winning teams were given another set of presentation, this time with a different set of seven judges coming from different industries. After the presentations, the winners emerged as follows:

  • 1st place – San Beda College Alabang
  • 2nd place – St. Louis University
  • 3rd place – San Beda College Manila
  • 4th place – Technological Institute of the Philippines

Congratulations to the 4th year BSA of San Beda College Alabang, represented by Joanna Marie L. Barrozo, Eros D.R. Herrera, Jardine Precious D. Miroy, and Roumer A. Tresvalles!

We are proud of you!
