COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The use of Organization Development (OD) is growing. OD’s set of concepts and techniques for improving organizational effectiveness and individual well being has been successfully used by organizations. OD addresses the opportunities and problems involved in managing human dynamics in organizations as well as instituting change.

This course will help the student understand what OD is and how it is practiced. A combination of lectures, workshops and case discussions, it presents the fundamental principles that an OD Consultant/Practitioner should know. It will enable the students define and explain organization development. Through the discussion of cases and best practices the student will learn the different models, change strategies and interventions used in an OD process as well as performance measures to evaluate your change process. If you are a line manager who has to select and work closely with an OD Consultant, or who is now required to do more OD work as an integral part of your daily role, this course is also for you.

At the end of the course, the participants will be able to:

    1. define and explain Organization Development and explain its role in the Human Resources spectrum;
    2. identify the models and interventions to use in diagnosing and solving organization dynamics;
    3. explain what happens to individuals and organization in the process of change and how to manage the change
    4. define the key success indicators to evaluate the change process;
    5. discuss the role of the OD Consultant or change agent;
    6. craft an OD plan for his organization

Certificate in Human Resource Planning and Acquisition

Course Description
This course has two components: 1) strategic manpower planning and 2) recruitment and selection. The course introduces the value of manpower planning as a strategic business tool that goes beyond mere forecasting of numbers; and recruitment and selection as more than just hiring people. At the end of the course participants are expected to know how to do the following:

    1. Use statistical and non-quantitative tools in forecasting and projecting manpower changes in their organization;
    2. Prepare a manpower plan that takes into account business directions of their organization as well as trends in their manpower movements;
    3. Prepare effective recruitment programs and tools;
    4. Draft dimensions for their recruitment and selection activities;
    5. Conduct selection techniques that are fair, legal, and effective;
    6. Conduct behavior- and competency- based interviews;
    7. Illustrate the various elements of their recruitment and selection programs as a whole system.

Note
The primary mode of imparting knowledge is lecture. Prior to discussion proper, students may have also been requested to bring to class any document regarding induction or verbal sharing of same. The same will be true of Performance Evaluation. Forms may be sampled for discussion.


Certificate in Human Resource Development

Course Description
A comprehensive course on the aspects of human resource development, the theories, methods, and research findings pertaining to improving the knowledge, attitudes, skills, and habits (KASH) levels of individuals and groups in various organizational settings; techniques and approaches on how to analyze training needs, design training modules, and evaluate training interventions or programs, and administer and manage the training function in an organization.

In general, this Certificate in Human Resource Development (CHRD) seeks to equip the participants with the relevant knowledge, attitudes, and skills in the exercise of the human resource development functions.

Specifically, this course purports to enable the participants to:

GAIN a better perspective and appreciation of the role and place of human resource development in an organization as a strategic tool supportive of business imperatives;

IDENTIFY the repertoire of skills and competencies needed by the modern/professional HRD practitioner;

DISTINGUISH between training and development;

APPLY key principles and theories of adult learning in the planning and implementation of training modules;

INCREASE their level of competence in the application of various (selected) tools, techniques, and approaches in:

analyzing training needs;
designing training modules;
implementing training programs;
evaluating training programs

ADMINISTER or MANAGE, with some degree of confidence, the human resource development function in an organization.

Course Requirements

  • Develop a credo (philosophy) underlying your practice as HRD professional
  • Design a diagnostic tool for your organization or any segment thereof and determine the training needs of employees
  • Design a training program for a group of individuals in your organization based on their analyzed training needs
  • Present a segment of your training program and utilize any or a mix of training methods and media;
  • Devise an evaluative tool that will measure the results of your training design

Target Participants

• Open to part-time and full-time students.
• A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• 80% participation is an absolute requirement.

Participant Evaluation

This is more than a training program. This is a PASS or FAIL program. Participants are graded for their performance based on the academic and other requirements of the course.

Requirements are as follows

  • Comprehensive or written examinations
  • Individual/group reports, case studies, workshops
  • Faculty/facilitator assessment
  • Attendance
  • Others

Note

  • Cross-enrollees are not allowed
  • 3 units will be credited for masteral degree

ADMISSION PROCEDURE
Program Eligibility
The DHRM Program and any of its five certificate courses is open to all those who have finished a Bachelor's Degree, either working full time or part time, regardless of current field of specialization. It is ideal for those who are currently embarked on a career in HRM, those intending to pursue one, or those who are interested in learning about the effective management of human resources.

Admission Procedure
Interested parties may obtain an application form from PMAP. The filled form and the required payment must be submitted on or before the start of the program. Reservations are allowed if made at least one week before the start of the program along with a P1,000 reservation fee.
