The San Beda Alabang Museum launched this July 30, 2008 at its Main Exhibition Gallery its new changing exhibition entitled “MODERNO” – An Exhibit of Diversity in Philippine Contemporary Art. The said exhibit highlights contemporary works of art, original and print, by prominent Filipino artists like Saprid, Malang, Kiukok, Robles, Sabio and Cacnio among others.  A recent work by Eduardo Castrillo is also part of the exhibition.  The loaned artworks are part of the private collection by Mr. Fernando Gaite, former Vice President of the Government Service Insurance System.

The exhibit aims to impart to its viewers the impression that Philippine art of today reveals an amazingly dynamic relationship between discourses, forms, and styles as diversely presented by each and every artists in their artworks. 

The opening was held in the presence of the administration council, parents and guests of the San Beda College Alabang headed by the newly elected Rector-President Dom Clement Ma. Roque, O.S.B. who cut the ceremonial ribbon together with Dean Geraldine Baricaua of the College of Arts and Sciences.  MODERNO is curated by Prof. Joseph Renta, Museum Administrator of the SBCA Museum and Consultant of Museo de La Salle.

The SBCA Museum in the San Beda College Alabang campus is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday and will be open Saturday for scheduled lectures, visits and tours. The exhibition is free and open to the public until August 30,2008.
