After hard work and a lot of
prayers, the San Beda College Alabang Red Cubs win the Grand slam Champion Award
in the finals of the Futures Basketball League held at
Xavier School in Greenhills last December 2, 2007.
It was a
grand slam for the Alabang Red Cubs who melted Blue Eaglets of Ateneo on their
first year with Francis Abarcar grabbing the MVP awards among 11 year old
players. The second year was another feather on the cap of our Alabang Red Cubs
as they emerged champions pinning down the Green Archers of La Salle Greenhills
with Patrick Tumaneng and Vincent Morante emerging the MVP’s for the for that
season. For the third time, our very own Alabang Red Cubs managed to defend the
title after a crucial encounter with the Green Archers of La Salle Greenhills
with Aaron Morante getting the MVP award among 12 year old players, and to top
it all, Francis Abarcar winning the much coveted league’s overall MVP award.
What a tight
game it was. But the Red Cubs gave the Green Archers a hard time in making moves
to score. During the 2nd & 3rd quarters, the Archers lead
the game and handled it until before the end of 4th quarter. It was
big banging 3 point-shots of Jude Sese, and Jao Ravago who led the Red Cubs to
the overtime game. From then on, it has become a see-saw game raising the
adrenalin of the players from both camps inside the court. Thanks to big man of
the Red Cubs, Brent Quiñones, who astonishingly exerted extra effort to lead the
team to the championship.
All the
players gave it their best shot and played really hard during the entire season.
With the training and discipline they get from their head coach Aldrin Morante
who gave his heart & soul in showing the team the true meaning of Work and
Prayer, how can they fail?
You
all have made San Beda Alabang proud. Keep the torch burning!
