San Beda College Alabang Grade School Department won as the champion in the "Art in Denim Contest" year 2 last October 7, 2007 sponsored by the Levi's Strauss Phils. and the Intellectual Property Philippines with the theme: "Celebrating Creativity".

The contest was held at the Market Market Activity Center. The competition is open to schools in elementary, high school and college levels in the National Capital Region. The competition aims to raise the awareness on the respect for intellectual property rights among the youth.

The school's participants were carefully chosen and trained by their respective and creative Art teachers Mrs. Rose Santos-Magat and Mrs. Grace Grey. They are Sofia del Carmen, Kaylene Rey and Charlene Buno from Levels 13 and 14.

The contest was conducted on the spot. Their artwork is an authentic vinta boat entitled "Ang Bangka ng Levi's" out of bamboo sticks. They used the denim pants of the Levi's as their main material coupled with some other fabrics and decoratives. They worked with full grouped effort and came out with a distinctive masterpiece that took the audience in awe. It was indeed a feather to the cup not only to the jubilant young artists but to the whole school as well!

The event was highlighted by the presence of some renowned local designers who were also the judges like Mr. Joey Samson, Ms. Karen Ocampo and Mr. Mideo Cruz. Other prominent persons were present to grace the event, like Asia-Country Manager of Levi's and Director General of IP.

Truly San Beda College Alabang is the home of artistic breed of winners! Kudos!
