ALABANG RED CUBS MELTDOWN ATENEO BLUE EAGLETS       Alabang Red Cubs brought home the Championship Trophy when they built a 44-34 lead against Ateneo Blue Eaglets in the Futures Basketball League (FBL) Championship Game held last February 5, 2006 at the Meralco Gym.       It was a good fight the Alabang Red Cubs gave to keep San Beda’s lead sturdy. Though the Bedans are in penalty early the fourth quarter, Gio Marasigan ( 1st year section 16) asserted himself inside the court. The three point shot of Vincent Morante ( Levels 13&14 St Mark) boost the lead to 12 which made it so impossible for the experienced Blue Eaglets to overcome. Coach Aldrin Morante of the Basketball Midgets had molded a very coordinated offensive unit that knows the value of “work and prayers” and community life as evident in the efforts each member of the team displayed in support of each other.       The FBL was designed to be an introductory league to young children who wanted to experience an actual basketball competition. Out of 26 participating schools, only 6 survived.       So let the Red Lions roar louder as we proudly congratulate the San Beda College Alabang Basketball Midgets Team for being the FIRST CHAMPIONS of the first venture of the Futures Basketball League.
