- Academic Probation
Statuses
- Probation Status:
is an
initial formal warning or reminder which carries with it a
condition that improvement in terms of academic achievement is
necessary for re-admission and/or promotion. This status is
applied to the following cases:
Student-applicants who failed to meet all the requirements for
admission. Failure in any subject at the end of the school-year
may mean non-readmission as stated in Admission and Readmission
Policies, No. 1.4.
Students who receive a failing grade in one (1) subject after a
quarter.
- Strict Probation
Status:
is a more serious warning or reminder which carries with
it a condition that improvement in terms of academic achievement
is necessary for readmission and/or promotion. It is applied to
students who receive a failing grade in one laboratory subject or
two-non-laboratory subjects after a quarter.
- Very Strict Probation
Status:
is a final warning or reminder which carries with it
specified conditions for readmission and/or promotion. It is
applied to the following cases:
- Students who receive
failing grades in one laboratory and one or more non-laboratory
subjects or in three or more non-laboratory subjects after a
quarter. Failure to lift this status at the end of the school
year may mean non- readmission for the following school year as
stated in Admission and Readmission Policies, No. 1.3
- Students who receive
failing grades on one laboratory subject or two non-laboratory
subjects after a school year. To be readmitted the following
school year, he/she should take and pass the summer classes
granted that he has no conduct deficiencies. Otherwise, he
repeats the year level or is not admitted as stated in Admission
and Readmission Policies, No. 1.2. A student who passes all
subjects for a particular quarter cancels whatever academic
probation status he/she acquired during the previous quarter(s).
2. Conduct Probation Status
- Probation statuses in
discipline are categorized as: Probation (P), Strict Probation
(SP), Very Strict Probation (VSP)
- A student is placed on
Probation Status (P) after committing a minor offense.
- A student is placed on
Strict Probation Status (SP) after committing a less serious
offense or repeatedly doing a minor offense. A commission of any
offense by a student on SP status may merit the penalty of
non-readmission (NRA) the following school-year or dismissal.
- A student is placed on
Very Strict Probation (VSP) after committing a major offense, or
repeatedly doing a minor offense or less serious offense. A
commission of any offense by a student on VSP status may merit
the penalty of non-readmission (NRA) the following school-year or
dismissal.
- A student on any level
of conduct probation status for an incoming school year shall not
be eligible for any elective, and/or appointive positions in any
club or organization.
- A student on
disciplinary or conduct probation for an incoming school year
shall be on said status for one semester only. If after this said
period, he/she improves in behavior, the probation status is
lowered to the next level. If, however, the student does not
manifest any noticeable improvement and even proves to be
uncooperative, the status will remain until the end of the
school-year.
