IV    ON PROBATION STATUSES

  1. Academic Probation Statuses
  • Probation Status: is an initial formal warning or reminder which carries with it a condition that improvement in terms of academic achievement is necessary for re-admission and/or promotion. This status is applied to the following cases:
Student-applicants who failed to meet all the requirements for admission. Failure in any subject at the end of the school-year may mean non-readmission as stated in Admission and Readmission Policies, No. 1.4.
Students who receive a failing grade in one (1) subject after a quarter.
  • Strict Probation Status: is a more serious warning or reminder which carries with it a condition that improvement in terms of academic achievement is necessary for readmission and/or promotion. It is applied to students who receive a failing grade in one laboratory subject or two-non-laboratory subjects after a quarter.
  • Very Strict Probation Status: is a final warning or reminder which carries with it specified conditions for readmission and/or promotion. It is applied to the following cases:
    • Students who receive failing grades in one laboratory and one or more non-laboratory subjects or in three or more non-laboratory subjects after a quarter. Failure to lift this status at the end of the school year may mean non- readmission for the following school year as stated in Admission and Readmission Policies, No. 1.3
    • Students who receive failing grades on one laboratory subject or two non-laboratory subjects after a school year. To be readmitted the following school year, he/she should take and pass the summer classes granted that he has no conduct deficiencies. Otherwise, he repeats the year level or is not admitted as stated in Admission and Readmission Policies, No. 1.2. A student who passes all subjects for a particular quarter cancels whatever academic probation status he/she acquired during the previous quarter(s).

      2.   Conduct Probation Status

  • Probation statuses in discipline are categorized as: Probation (P), Strict Probation (SP), Very Strict Probation (VSP)
    • A student is placed on Probation Status (P) after committing a minor offense.
    • A student is placed on Strict Probation Status (SP) after committing a less serious offense or repeatedly doing a minor offense. A commission of any offense by a student on SP status may merit the penalty of non-readmission (NRA) the following school-year or dismissal.
    • A student is placed on Very Strict Probation (VSP) after committing a major offense, or repeatedly doing a minor offense or less serious offense. A commission of any offense by a student on VSP status may merit the penalty of non-readmission (NRA) the following school-year or dismissal.
  • A student on any level of conduct probation status for an incoming school year shall not be eligible for any elective, and/or appointive positions in any club or organization.
  • A student on disciplinary or conduct probation for an incoming school year shall be on said status for one semester only. If after this said period, he/she improves in behavior, the probation status is lowered to the next level. If, however, the student does not manifest any noticeable improvement and even proves to be uncooperative, the status will remain until the end of the school-year.
