COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES

Conscientization and Responsive Advocacy

Our Benedictine Lay Formation program initiates students into a deeper understanding of the socio-political-economic and cultural situation in the Philippine society, and accords them the chance to undergo exposures and community outreach activities that develop skills in social work. Through concrete experience in parish work, youth centers, social action groups, non-government and private institutions, government agencies, including advocacy groups, students’ narrow perceptions of life are widened. Their sense of social responsibility and commitment is expanded to include a healthy sense of volunteerism and initiative. Reflection and prayer, processing, analysis and evaluation of students’ experiences are important aspect of the program, all of which are done in the light of the Benedictine principles of Ora et Labora (Prayer and Work).

Students who complete this program are given credit equivalents to CWTS, a CHED mandated requirement for graduation.
