THE BEDAN HYMN

Peace!

At its 2007 summer conference the Administrators’ Council expressed the need to foster a stronger awareness of the Bedan identity among the students, faculty members, and service personnel of San Beda College Alabang. The singing of the Bedan Hymn was among several recommendations passed by the Council. The Bedan Hymn, which was composed by the late Senator Raul Roco, embodies the unique identity and aspirations of Bedans.

In this regard, I am issuing the following directive:

1. The Bedan Hymn should be sung by all at every assembly of students, faculty members, and service personnel.

2. Students should be directed to show respect for the Bedan Hymn while it is being sung by participating in the singing and by desisting from talking or jesting.

3. The lyric of the Bedan Hymn should be duly explained during the orientation of new students, and academic department heads may promote it through suitable activities.

4. The hand movement during the singing of the hymn is a gesture that I leave to the discretion of the department heads.

For San Beda, our country, and God!
